Onspeed Can Speed Up Malaysia's Broadband
Internet Penetration
KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) --
Onspeed, a downloadable software programme for Internet
acceleration, could help Malaysia achieve its broadband penetration
target faster without substantial additional costs, says Teamwork,
the company dealing with the service.
Onspeed can be used
with any Internet connection in the world regardless of the users'
Internet Service Provider, says Norm Hosken, CEO of Teamwork, a
Malaysian-based company dealing with telecommunications
services.
Hosken said Onspeed allowed dial-up connections to
the Internet at five times faster without the need for additional
hardware.
With Malaysia's existing dial-up subscriber base of
2.5 million, Onspeed could help the country achieve its target of 10
percent broadband penetration overnight.
Malaysia has set a
target of 2008 for 10 percent broadband penetration among its 25
million population.
Costing only RM15 a month, dial-up users
could use the software and see an improvement in their efficiency
and productivity improve by up to 500 percent, essentially at one
fifth of the cost of broadband, said Hosken.
